Family Day Skate- Another fun event!

Many community and surrounding area residents came out on Family Day (Monday February 18th) to enjoy the great weather and have some fun. The Millrise Community Association board and group of volunteers once again pulled off a well organized event. There was a lot to do, from skating with Harvey the Hound to enjoying a hot dog or beef on a bun. There was plenty of food and drink to satisfy families who worked up an appetite playing hockey or just skating on the oval. The City of Calgary provided volunteers to run kids’ events like snow shoe racing and snow painting. There was even a fire pit for those people who needed a quick warm up. The turnout was very high and a few more (well needed) memberships were purchased to help support the association to sponsor events like this one. A special thank you to Alana & Scott Sorokoski, who organized this successful event.

Currently plans are in the works for more events and programs to help strengthen and make Millrise the best community to live in. What would you like to see offered? Newsflash

Do you love cold weather and clearing snow?  Better yet, have you always wanted to drive a Zamboni?

We're the Millrise ice crew and we maintain the ice through the winter. The good news is that we have machines to do the heavy work and the work is extremely rewarding when we see kids active and skating. We're always looking for new volunteers. In October each year we begin our fall tune-up and we generally begin making ice in late November; please plan on coming down early in the year and get acquainted with the work.
